TERRIFIC 12: Ailun-Castro rematch starts Macau tilt
As the two best point guards in Asia, Guo Ailun and Jayson Castro have met each other before representing China and the Philippines respectively, fighting over FIBA wins and gold medals.

The 2019 Terrific 12 tournament is coming and the East Asia Super League is bringing in a dozen club teams from China, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines to fight over bragging rights and significant amounts of cash prizes.

Bringing in that many top club teams to Macau means an endless possibilities for intriguing showdowns.

The East Asia Super League has identified three key matchups for the first three days of group play and none is bigger than the upcoming showdown between China’s Liaoning Flying Leopards and the Philippines’ TNT KaTropa.

Serving as the main event of a loaded Day 1 slate, the Liaoning-TNT clash should serve as the rematch for old FIBA rivals Guo Ailun and Jayson Castro.

As the two best point guards in Asia, Ailun and Castro have met each other before representing China and the Philippines respectively, fighting over FIBA wins and gold medals. Now, they take on each other again as they try to set the tone for their respective club teams in the Terrific 12.

Liaoning and TNT also feature quality NBA talent as imports in Lance Stephenson and KJ McDaniels.

TNT gets a featured matchup but the KaTropa are not the only PBA team competing in the Terrific 12.

San Miguel, gearing up for a Grand Slam chase in the PBA, also wants to make a title stop in Macau, and the Beerme biggest matchup for group play is without a doubt Japan’s Ryukyu Golden Kings.

The Golden Kings enter as the Terrific 12’s defending champions.

Blackwater is also making a return to the East Asia Super League and the Elite will have their hands full with South Korea’s Seoul SK Knights and Japan’s Chiba Jets.

The Terrific 12 will run from September 17-22 at the Tap Seac Multi-Sport Pavilion in Macau.
