TERRIFIC 12: Blackwater opens group play vs. SK Knights
Blackwater will be up first as the Elite take on South Korea’s Seoul SK Knights in Group A action.

MACAU — The East Asia Super League’s The Terrific 12 tournament is finally here and action starts right away Tuesday with all three PBA teams suiting up.

Blackwater will be up first as the Elite take on South Korea’s Seoul SK Knights in Group A action.

The Elite are coming off a strong campaign in th2 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup where they had their best regular-season finish and made the playoffs as the no. 3 seed.

Unfortunately, Blackwater’s playoff run stopped in round one, losing to Rain or Shine in the quarterfinals.

In Macau, the Elite look to add to their experience with hopes of making a deeper run in the Governors’ Cup.

Last year, Blackwater also suited up in the East Asia Supe League, with its All-Filipino team seeing action in the Summer Super 8. The Elite finished with a 2-1 record in group play but missed the semis after quotients were considered.

When they returned to the PBA, Blackwater made the Governors’ Cup playoffs as a top-5 seed. The team is looking to have the same results, if not better, this time around.

The Elite will have its local team plus imports Alex Stepheson and Marqus Blakely here and they open the Terrific 2 tournament against the Knights.

Seoul was the KBL champions two seasons ago and are using the Terrific 12 to prepare for a rebound campaign in Korea next year following a disappointing title defense in the 2018-2019 season.

The Knights will have Jameel Warney as one of their imports. Former KBL MVP Kim Sunhyung and former KBL no. 2 pick Choi Junyong will lead Seoul as its top locals.

Tip off for Blackwater-Seoul will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Tap Seac Multi-sport Pavilion here.
