The SK Knights out of South Korea overwhelmed the Elite, picking up a nice 93-77 victory Tuesday at the Tap Seac Multi-sport Pavilion here to open the East Asia Super League’s Terrific 12 joust.
Blackwater import Alex Stepheson scored on a slam dunk to tie things up at 46-all early in the second half, completing the Elite’s comeback from 17 points down in the second quarter.
However, that proved to be the closest Blackwater would get as the SK Knights simply turned around and answered with a quick 9-1 run of their own to regain a 55-47 lead.
Seoul never looked back afterwards and cruised for a 16-point win.
Import Jameel Warney had a fine all-around game for the SK Knights, finishing with 26 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Kim Min Soo was the top local for Seoul with 18 points.
Blackwater got 22 points and 22 rebounds from Alex Stepheson. Marqus Blakely had three fouls in the opening period but still managed 14 points while Paul Desiderio added 12 for the Elite.
Wrapping up group play, Blackwater returns to court Wednesday against the Chiba Jets.
In other results, China’s Zhejiang Guangsha Lions pulled away late from Jeonju KCC Egis to score a dominant 88-67 victory.
