Zhejiang Guangsha frustrated San Miguel Beer Sunday at the Tap Sea Multi-sport Pavilion in Macau, taking third place in the Terrific 12 tournament.
MACAU — There’s still no Philippine team to make the podium in the East Asia Super League.
Zhejiang Guangsha frustrated San Miguel Beer Sunday at the Tap Seac Multi-sport Pavilion here, taking a 91-89 win to clinch third place in the Terrific 12 tournament.
It was a close game right from the opening tip but the Lions pulled away in the fourth behind the super effort of Jinqiu Hu who finished with 31 points, including the dagger and-one play that put Zhejiang up eight with two minutes left.
The Beermen managed to cut the deficit to two with 2.6 seconds to go but the Lions were steady at the line to preserve the victory.
Dez Wells scored 33 for the Beermen in a losing effort. San Miguel finished the Terrific 12 with an even 2-2 record here, matching NLEX’s finish from the Super 8 last year.
After Hu, Jalen Reynods added another 22 points and 15 rebounds for the Lions. With the win, the Lions pocketed a cool $50,000 as prize money.
Lester Prosper was solid for the Beermen with 16 points while Alex Cabagnot (15 points) and Kelly Nabong (14 points) were the top locals for San Miguel.
