The top teams in high school will wage war in the 2019 Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship starting December 14.

The best four teams from the NCAA Jrs. and UAAP Jrs. will go at it with the best Filipino-Chinese schools as well as champions from North Luzon and Visayas in the six-day tournament at SGS Gym in Quezon City.

UAAP king National U is hoping to become the league's first-ever back-to-back winner of the annual "Battle of Champions."

Of course, they are certain to be challenged by newly crowned NCAA titlist San Beda, among others.

Being a venue for the top teams in high school to test their mettle against one another, the PSSBC was lauded by no less than PBA commissioner Willie Marcial.

"One good reason why we have so many exciting players is because we have a tournament like 'Battle of Champions' which serves as a perfect vehicle for our young ballers," the always amiable Marcial said. "My advice for these young ballers is to keep dreaming big and I'm sure they will have a chance to play in the PBA."

The PSSBC has a new chairman in Freego Jeans owner Eduard Tio who replaced Rain or Shine co-team owner Terry Que.

The Board of Governors is completed by Hapee Toothpaste’s Dr. Cecilio Pedro, Blackwater Sports’ Dioceldo Sy, IronCon Builder’s Jimi Lim, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum’s Jimmy dela Cruz, MEC Networks’ Leoncio Chua, and Macbeth Underwear’s Rudy Yu.

Members of the Management Committee of the event also supported by Masumax Food Supplement, Cherrylume Roofing, SUMO GI Sheets, Choi Garden, and Molten are Commissioner Ato Badolato, Arellano University’s Peter Cayco (representing NCAA) NU’s Nilo Ocampo (UAAP ), Sunny Co, Bernard Yang, and Edster Sy.
