Mighty Sports-Pilipinas, as it turns out, will not have 7-foot-2, 17-year-old Kai Sotto for the 2020 Dubai International Basketball Tournament.
The team announced Tuesday that Sotto will be unable to join the Filipino representatives in the invitational tourney due to "unresolved logistical and scheduling issues on his part."
The former UAAP Jrs. MVP has been showcasing his skills with Atlanta-based The Skills Factor. It remains unclear what prior commitment he had to fulfill in place of the Dubai Tournament.
Nonetheless, Mighty-Pilipinas vowed it will go all-out to live up to the hype - even now minus Sotto. "Despite the absence of Kai, our team is still complete with a formidable lineup of young, athletic, talented, and inspired amateur players who are able reinforced by the likes of Andray Blatche, Renaldo Balkman, and McKenzie Moore," head coach Charles Tiu.
Indeed, after all, the Filipinos still have the young yet talented core of Isaac Go, Dave Ildefonso, Jamie Malonzo, Thirdy Ravena, and Gomez de Liano brothers Javi and Juan.
