MANILA – Top Rank Promotions is not looking to wait for Floyd Mayweather’s signature that long.
In a report by Dyan Castillejo of ABS-CBN News, the eight-division world champion once again declared his agreement to all the possible terms for the six-year paper match-up.
"We are waiting for the contract signing,” said Pacquiao, who is in New York City to promote his documentary film “Manny”. “I mean it's that close to make that fight happen. My promoter and I we agreed already to all the terms and conditions that he wants to do. We are just waiting for the contract from them."
However, according to Top Rank chief Bob Arum, they will be forced to move on to “Plan B” if Mayweather fails to meet their deadline of this month’s end to sign the contract. While nothing has been reported about its specifics, rumors among boxing scribes have been abuzz about a possible rematch with Miguel Cotto.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao was also pleased about the turnout of the Papal visit in Manila this past week. Now a born-again Christian, “Pacman” still urged his fellow Filipinos to uphold their faith in Jesus.
“I'm sure the Catholic is very happy because the Pope visit the Philippines,” said Pacquiao, who also holds bible studies from time to time. “I'm a Christian. I'm a real Christian. I'm obeying Jesus. I'm following Jesus. You have to understand this that many people are claiming that they are Christian but they are not obeying so they are not really Christian. When you obey Jesus then you are a real Christian."
Pacquiao is also slated to judge the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant this Sunday in Florida.
