MANILA – This is by far the closest encounter both boxing superstars ever had.
Both Pacquiao and Mayweather were seen enjoying the ongoing NBA game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Miami Heat at the latter’s home court at the American Airlines Arena.
Negotiations have been stagnant as of late, with the Pacquiao camp claiming to have agreed upon every single one of the terms on the contract, and are just awaiting for Mayweather’s signature.
“The Money Team”, on the other hand, disputed such claims, while Showtime Sports has corroborated it by declaring that no contract has been drafted yet.
Since 2009, both camps have allegedly been in talks and have engaged in back-and-forth social media tirades. However, the on-paper match up came alive once again when Floyd Mayweather himself publicly challenged Pacquiao for a May 2nd showdown in December 2014. It was a challenge that Pacquiao claims to have immediately accepted.
If negotiations once again fall apart, Pacquiao is reportedly in talks with former sparring partner Amir Khan for a possible May 30th bout in the U.K. Mayweather, on the other hand, is said to be working for a rematch with reigning WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.
