Donnie Nietes will be defending his WBO World Light Flyweight Title against Mexico's Luis Ceja
Fresh off the heels of a largely successful Pinoy Pride 29 card in Davao City that saw Jason Pagara, Genesis Servania, and three other Pinoy boxers score huge wins over an international cast of opposition, ALA Promotions is already gearing up for the next installment of the longest running boxing promotion in Asia.
Pinoy Pride 30 is expected to take place this coming March 28 in the Mall Of Asia Arena in Pasay City, and will feature WBO World Light Flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes, as well as the Philippine boxing return of former five-division champion “The Filipino Flash” Nonito Donaire.
Nietes, now the Philippines’ longest reigning boxing champion after surpassing Flash Elorde’s record in January, will make his next title defense against Mexican challenger Luis “Gallo” Ceja. The native of Naucalplan, Mexico is a 34-fight veteran with 26 wins, 21 via knockout. Currently riding a two-fight winning streak, Ceja will be looking to carry over that momentum against Nietes in March.
Following his recent loss to Nicholas Walters last October, Donaire will be going back down to bantamweight against Brazilian contender William Prado. The 31-year old Prado already has 27 bouts under his belt with 22 wins and 15 knockouts. Winner of three of his last four bouts, Prado will look to test his mettle against a world-class talent in Donaire.
Donaire will fighting back in the Philippines for the first time since he defeated Raul Martinez at the Araneta Coliseum back in 2009.
