MANILA - Manny Pacquiao's trainer and close confidante Buboy Fernandez promised one thing for the upcoming super fight against Floyd Mayweather.
Currently in General Santos City, "Pacman" already began his training camp for the May 2nd showdown in Las Vegas, as soon as the bout was made official on Friday (Saturday, Manila time). While the Filipino boxing icon opened up as the underdog during the initial fight odds, his camp is out to prove the world otherwise.
"Hindi kami magiging number 48. Hindi siya makakatakbo kay Manny (We will not be Floyd's 48th win. He won't be able to run from Manny)," Fernandez told Dyan Castillejo of ABS-CBN News.
Las Vegas oddmakers already have the undefeated Mayweather as the expected 3-1 favorite against Pacquiao. Given Mayweather's defense-oriented and reflex-based game, experts believe that a victory for Pacquiao can only come in the form of a knockout.
But for his part, Pacquiao will be leaving it up to faith, like always.
"I have God with me," said the eight-division world champion.
Pacquiao will be holding his eight-week pre-fight training camp in the United States.
