MANILA - Manny Pacquiao has arrived in Los Angeles.
The eight-division champion is now set to begin his training camp in preparation for Floyd Mayweather in a showdown that is billed as the "Fight of the Century." He left on Saturday nigth (Manila time) right after his team KIA Carnival's PBA game against Blackwater, and arrived on Sunday in LA.
Pacquiao already began some drills in his very own Wild Card Gym in General Santos with coach Buboy Fernandez. He will now kick off his official training camp at the original Wild Card, under the tutelage of Freddie Roach and strength & conditioning coach Justin Fortune.
"Pacman" will be training for eight weeks in the United States, and earlier than scheduled. This, in turn, came as a pleasant surprise for Freddie Roach.
"Manny called me and said it's been so crazy in the Philippines that he is going to come over here early and probably start at Wild Card on March 2," the 54-year old trainer said in a separate interview. "Having him early is really nice for me. We'll have Justin Fortune doing strength work with him, and then we'll begin the boxing part and start sparring."
