MANILA - Manny Pacquiao has officially opened training camp.
The eight-division world champion already began preparations for his May 2nd encounter against the reigning pound-for-pound boxing king Floyd Mayweather. In a report by Dyan Castillejo of ABS-CBN News, Pacquiao will be under the watch of long-time trainer Buboy Fernandez and strength & conditioning coach Justin Fortune, as Freddie Roach fulfills his obligations with another one of his fighters Zou Shiming, who is fighting in Macau this weekend.
The first training session began on Monday, where Pacquiao began with a six-kilometer run like usual. He then incorporated his shadow boxing drills and ab workouts, before heading off to the Wild Card gym in West Hollywood, where he held a closed door session.
According to Fortune, doing so would keep Manny off any outside distractions.
"It's important to leave him alone," said Fortune. "Just the direct training team, me and Buboy."
