23-year old featherweight Brayd Smith is in critical condition after his ten-round fight against Davao City's John Vincent Moralde on Saturday night at the Rumours International in Toowoomba, Australia.
In a report by Ring Magazine, the Australian boxer collapsed in his dressing room moments after his unanimous decision loss to the 20-year old Moralde. He was then immediately airlifted to the Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he remains under watch.
Sources say Smith did not show any signs of trouble throughout the bout, particularly in the ninth round where he was buckled by one of the punches.
Moralde, who just arrived in the country on Sunday, sent his well-wishes to Smith and his family.
“I’m very saddened to hear of Braydon’s condition but I am praying for his full recovery," said Moralde. "My prayers are with his family.”
