MANILA - Manny Pacquiao is covering all bases to get himself battle-ready for May 2nd.
Apart from being early for this camp than usual, the eight-division world champion already submitted himself to the first round of pre-fight drug tests.
In a report by Steve Angeles of the Southern California Bureau of ABS-CBN, Pacquiao already handed in his first batch of blood and urine samples late last week. And since the tests will be done under the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency, both him and Mayweather will be subjected to another drug test after the fight.
Drug-testing issues are one of the main deterrents to why the mega bout did not push through originally as planned five years ago. Back then, the Mayweather camp accused Pacquiao of being on Performance Enhancing Drugs, an allegation which he did not have a solid basis for.
Now that the deal has been ironed out, Pacquiao remains confident that he will pass all the drug tests, and even went as far as putting a $5 million guarantee on it.
Meanwhile, "Pacman" has so far kept an unrelenting pace with his training.
ABS-CBN News correspondent Dyan Castillejo was with the Filipino boxing superstar during Day 13 of his camp.
