Nonito Donaire Jr. only needed 5 minutes and 16 seconds to dispatch of William Prado and get back on the winning track in front of his Filipino fans. He completely outclassed the Brazilian challenger at Pinoy Pride 30, but the 32-year-old still wasn’t completely satisfied with his victory.

"In terms of strategy-wise, there was still something missing for me," Nonito said during the post-fight press conference. "There's still that lack of follow-up, and I was only throwing one punch at a time."

"I rate my performance probably as a 7 out of 10, or 6 out of 10."

"I still have tendencies of the old, which is to go out there and just 'destroy', like a seek-and-destroy type of mentality. In a word, I was nanggigigil,” he said. "One thing that I was proud of was that I used a lot of my jab, which you guys haven't seen me do in a long time."

His father and trainer echoed the same sentiments when asked about his son’s showing inside the ring.

"Hindi parin!" Nonito Sr. said with a laugh, when asked if he finally followed their game plan. "Sabi ko antay kami hanggang 6th round, eh dinali-dali."

"Maganda naman movement niya, pero medyo nanggigigil parin. Gusto knockout agad. Matagal na kasi nasa sytem niya yung bad habit na yun."

"Pero nakikinig din naman siya. Nung sinabi ko 'itapon mo yung right body shot mo', tinapon naman niya kaagad. Lahat naman nagagawa niya."

Dispatching Prado on this move back down to 122 lbs was the first step for Donaire as he tries to regain some of that luster he once had. According to the Filipino Flash, he wants to get back in the ring as soon as possible with the hopes of earning another title shot down the road.

Both Nonito Jr and his father also did mention some “unfinished business” with WBA champ Guillermo Rigondeaux as they eye an eventual rematch in the future.

"Anytime. Kung papayag si Rigondeaux and promoter niya, anytime game kami,” Nonito Sr. said. “Wala kaming problema doon."
