MANILA - It is week five of training camp, and according to Freddie Roach, things are seemingly running smooth for Team Pacquiao so far.
In a report by ABS-CBN News correspondent Dyan Castillejo, the ever-confident trainer is getting more assured about their performance for the upcoming May 2nd clash with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
"We're getting used to how to defeat mayweather's style and we did 9 rounds (of sparring) today," said the 55-year old Roach. "The last couple rounds were really terrific. They went at it just toe to to toe. I like what I see we're getting there."
Manny, however, has not been 100% as of late, as he is believed to be nursing some minor disorders since last week. But being known as a workhorse in the gym, the eight-division world champion has managed to not let it be a hindrance to his training.
"He told me he had a sore leg," Roach said. "I told him 'no you don't, just work through it. Work through it work through it. Work through it. There's nothing wrong with your leg.'"
"I was just being positive and telling him to push through. If he hurts his leg in a fight he has to push through. I think it's a little bit mental and Buboy is telling me it's a blister on the bottom of his foot that's bothering him."
For his part, Pacquiao says he is motivated by the words of his long-time mentor and has taken it upon himself to deliver what is needed.
"(It's) encouraging to focus. Go go go like that. That's good. Kahit pagod ka, let's go."
