This photo can probably beat you up.
It just seemed quite appropriate to take a stroll down memory lane and share this photograph to the world, since UFC Heavyweight Alistair Overeem will be hitting Manila this weekend, and with eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao getting ready for the biggest boxing event of the century.
Back in December of 2010, two of arguably the world’s best strikers crossed paths as Overeem and Pacquiao met in Japan, following a Dynamite 2010 event in Saitama, Japan.
At that time, The Reem was coming off a 19 second destruction of Todd Duffee and was the reigning Strikeforce, DREAM, and K-1 Heavyweight Champion, making him one of the most dominant heavyweights in mixed martial arts. About a year later, Overeem made his UFC debut, blasting Brock Lesnar into retirement.
Pacman on the other hand, was on vacation in Japan. He was coming off a systematic domination of Antonio Margarito to win the vacant WBC Light middlweight title, one of his eight world titles, cementing his status as one of the all-time greatest to ever step in to a boxing ring in the process.
The photo of The Reem, Pacman, and Pacman's wife Jinkee comes from the Golden Glory Facebook page, Overeem’s old team.
This photo was filled with so much awesome at that time, it’s a miracle that the camera that took it didn’t explode.
