MANILA - Floyd Mayweather made a rather odd request with only two days ahead of the historic fight.
From drug testing to fight venue, the reigning pound-for-pound king of boxing now insisted that the Nevada State Athletic Commission inspect Manny Pacquiao’s protective groin guard. (HT: BloodyElbow.com)
On Thursday, members of the Commission did visit the Pacquiao camp to conduct the inspection.
According to ESPN’s Joe Tessitore, the Mayweather camp’s main concern was that the groin guard “would sit too high”, that it would render body shots ineffective.
This was not the first time Mayweather made questionable demands with just days before fight night. In his May 2014 fight against Marcos Maidana, Junior called for a last-minute change of gloves for Maidana, citing that “there was no padding” on “El Chino’s” Everlasts.
