After initially offering a rematch to Manny Pacquiao just a few days back, Floyd Mayweather Jr seems to have had a slight a change of heart.
In an interview with Ben Thompson of Fighthype.com, the undefeated American fighter is now offering something less salivating than that.
Mayweather has now offered Manny Pacquiao to become the co-main event of his farewell fight which he's targeting this September.m
"I think he (Pacquiao) has to go back to the drawing board," Mayweather told Thompson when asked about the possible rematch.
"Since September is my last fight, I look forward to see Pacquiao fight in the undercard. I think we can fight in a doubleheader. We should fight on pay-per-view on a doubleheader, we can get some good money. We can fight somebody solid," He added.
Now that's something that wouldn't sound good for the Pacquiao camp, specially since the team is keen on getting a rematch after the Filipino congressman was reportedly injured in that fight.
But the move actually makes sense, monetary wise, since some fight fans aren't too keen on seeing Mayweather and Pacquiao go at it again.
A Mayweather main event against Amir Khan, with Pacquiao fighting a solid up and comer as the co-main event in both fighters' farewell fights? That actually isn't a bad idea at all.
But then again, it all depends on how quick Manny recovers from his shoulder injury. - CJ
