While most of the country still hasn’t gotten over the Pacquiao-Mayweather clash earlier this month, another Pinoy boxer made himself famous over the weekend after scoring a huge knockout in foreign territory.
26-year old Eden Sonsona, a native of General Santos, handed previously unbeaten Mexican boxer Adrian Estrella his first career loss in brutal fashion, knocking Estrella out 27 seconds into the second round in a boxing event held in San Luis, Potosi, Mexico last May 16.
Sonsona becomes the latest Pinoy to bring home a boxing championship after claiming the vacant WBC International Super Featherweight Title after his win over Estrella.
Prior to Sonsona’s big win, he was riding an impressive nine-fight unbeaten streak and has not tasted defeat since 2010. Estrella on the other hand, had won all 22 of his bouts, before getting knocked out by Sonsona.
