MANILA - Nonito Donaire will still be fighting on July 18th, but against a different opponent this time around.
“The Filipino Flash” was originally slated to face number one ranked super bantamweight Hugo Ruiz of Mexico, with the winner getting a shot at the WBC super bantamweight title, currently held by Leo Santa Cruz.
In a report by ESPN.com, Donaire will now face 28-year old Frenchman Anthony Settoul (20-3, with eight victories by knockout). According to Top Rank chief Bob Arum, the winner of the said fight will be set up for a title bout against either undefeated Englishman Scott Quigg (30-0-2, with 22 victories by knockout) or another unbeaten 122-pounder in Carl Frampton.
