ALA Boxing standout Milan Melindo is all set for his world title fight against Javier Mendoza in the latter’s home country of Mexico this weekend.
“El Metodico” (32-1, with 12 victories by knockout) is looking to finally secure his first world title, after a previous failed attempt in 2013. The fight was against current WBA and WBO flyweight champion Juan Francisco Estrada, where he earned his first career loss coming by unanimous decision.
Against Mendoza, Melindo is greatly confident on his chances, which he says stems from all the hard work and preparation he has put in during camp.
“Melindo’s confidence level is high and he’s prepared to go all the way for 12 rounds,” ALA trainer Edito Villamor said, speaking for his fighter. “He really wants to fulfill his dream to become a world champion that is why he will give his best and do whatever it takes to win this match.”
On Friday, both Melindo and Mendoza met their respective weight limits, tipping the scales at 107-pounds.
