It looks like boxing fans will no longer be seeing too much of Juan Manuel Marquez.
Still shelved from a knee injury he sustained a year ago, prior to his May 2014 bout with Mike Alvarado, “El Dinamita” says he remains uncertain about his boxing caeer.
"The first and most important thing is my physical state, my health,” the 41-year old Marquez said in a report by Boxingscene.com. “Right now I'm training. I felt good but then suddenly the knee begins to hurt and that demoralizes me.”
"You can not operate [on the knee], it is caused by wear and tear and years of training. IÂ do exercises to strengthen the muscles and take some supplements to rehabilitate my knee."
In December 2014, Marquez announced that he is willing to hang up his gloves for good, especially if he feels the need to do so.
"I do not want to retire, but if the body does not allow me I will be forced into retirement,” Marquez told ESPN Deportes. “I know the fans want to see me [in the ring], but if the physical does not answer me, I'll have to leave things alone.”
