Former WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley continues his winning ways as he defeats former light welterweight world champ Jesse Vargas. The loss marks Vargas' first-ever career defeat.
The entire fight was pretty much all "Desert Storm", who fully utilized some hard body shots. Vargas' main weapon, on the other hand, was his stiff jabs.
Bradley coasted through the entire fight, winning every round. The late turning point of the fight came in the 12th and final round, when Vargas landed a looping right that almost sent Bradley to the canvas.
Vargas followed up with shots to the body when the referee stepped into to stop the fight with still ten seconds left. Thinking he already won, Vargas went on to celebrate. He later finds out that referee Pat Russell thought the bell had already sounded, prompting the stoppage.
In the end, Bradley was given the unanimous decision victory with a tally of 116-112, 117-111, and 115-112.
