After all is said and done, it looks like boxing’s major Mexico-Puerto Rico rivalry bout will finally be happening.
The middleweight super fight between WBC 160-pound world champion Miguel Cotto and former 154-pound world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is being prepped to take place in November, according to ESPN.com.
The report furthers that while both Golden Boy (representing Canelo) and Roc Nation (representing Cotto) have yet to agree on the date and venue, what has been made final is that the bout will be fought at a catchweight of 155 lbs.
Alvarez last saw action in May, where he scored an emphatic third round knockout against James Kirkland. Cotto, meanwhile, last fought in June, where he scored a fourth round stoppage over former three-time world champion Daniel Geale.
