It seems like Nonito Donaire has caught a second wind in his career.

After his devastating and first-ever career knockout loss in the hands of Nicholas Walters in October of last year, many boxing fans have already started to count out the 33-year old five-division world champion.

But after reevaluating his performance and tweaking his training methods, “The Filipino Flash” did have some newfound success. The first wave came in March when he defeated William Prado at Pinoy Pride 30 via second round stoppage.

Four months after, Donaire scored another second round TKO victory, this time over Anthony Settoul to improve to a record of 35-3 (with 23 victories by knockout) at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China.

It was all Nonito Donaire from the opening bell, and was even able to score two knockdowns in the first round alone. The first one was a shot to the head, while the second one was thudding shot to the liver. Settoul did make it through, but was barely surviving.

The second round rang in, and Donaire was determined to finish the job once and for all. Knowing he had the edge, he threw a clean overhand right that floored Settoul for the third time in the bout. This was when the Frenchman’s corner decided to throw in the towel.

Time of the stoppage was at the 1:14 mark of the second round.

At the post-fight interview, Donaire mainly gave credit to his training in Cebu City at the renowned ALA Boxing gym.

"We did pretty well in the gym. We worked really hard for it. I have more than just one weapon,” said Donaire, who is mainly known for his left hook.

Settoul now drops to a record of 20-4, with eight victories by knockout.

Here is the body shot that dropped Anthony Settoul for the second time in the first round.
