Two-division world champion Brian Viloria will be meeting a familiar foe on Saturday night (Sunday morning, PHT) as he faces Mexico’s Omar Soto at the Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, California in a ten-round non-title bout.
“The Hawaiian Punch” (35-4, two no contests, with 21 victories by knockout) already faced Soto (23-11-2, with 15 victories by knockout) in July 2010, where he won via split decision. Should Viloria win the rematch, he potentially gets back to title contention and have a crack at Juan Francisco Estrada’s world flyweight titles.
Viloria has won three of his last four fights, with two of those wins ending by knockout. His last defeat was against the reigning champion Estrada in 2013, where he lost both his WBO and WBA flyweight titles.
Soto, on the other hand, has lost three of his last four fights, with three of those losses ending by stoppage.
Both men had already weighed-in, with Viloria tipping the scales at 112.8-pounds and Soto at 114.4-pounds.
