On August 7th, brothers Albert and Jason Pagara will be fighting for the first time outside the country, as both ALA Boxing standouts co-headline Pinoy Pride 32, Duel in Dubai 2.
“Prince” Albert will be defending his IBF Intercontinental super-bantamweight title against Mexico’s Jesus Rios, while the elder “El Niño” will be facing another Mexican in Ramiro Alcaraz in a ten-round battle.
Both fighters are in Manila to complete the final leg of their training before flying off to Dubai at the end of the week. But they did take some time off to share some updates on their training, as well as their mental and physical state as fight night approaches.
“Ready na, 100%,” the younger Pagara confidently said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN. “Kondisyon na kasi malapit na ‘yung laban.”
“Handang-handa na talaga ako lumaban,” said Jason. “Kasi February pa yung last fight ko. Ready na talaga ako. Nanggigigil na nga ako e, pero relaxed parin ako.”
Being under the renowned ALA Boxing stable also means serious business. As the premiere boxing stable in the country, all of its fighters have always been known as a hardworking bunch, and it is no different for the Pagara brothers.
“Focus namin sa conditioning,” said Albert, who also revealed that their diet is mainly composed of protein with no carbohydrates such as rice. “Sa umaga conditioning, sa hapon training. Tsaka tapos ng sparring, sprinting. Mga dalawa, tatlong oras ‘yun.”
Both Albert and Jason are being prepared to fight at a bigger show in the United States, should they prevail against their respective upcoming opponents.
