One of the more elusive match-ups of the recent past has been the “super fight” between Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Since late 2014, the said fight has been talked about, but has not come to fruition due to various circumstances, particularly with getting both fighters to agree. But early this month, it has been reported that the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry fight is being targeted for November.
More developments has since surfaced, and it looks like a final date and venue has been picked. According to ESPN boxing reporter Dan Rafael, the bout is being set for November 21st at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
11/21 works well in LV for #CottoCanelo because better date for HBO than 11/7 & 11/19 at MGM is Latin Grammys. Main audience already in city— Dan Rafael (@danrafaelespn) July 29, 2015
Lineal middleweight champion Miguel Cotto last fought Daniel Geale in June, where he won by fourth round knockout. Canelo Alvarez, on the other hand last fought in May, where he also won via a highlight reel third round knockout over James Kirkland.
