Opponent number 49 for Floyd Mayweather has been made final.
For weeks, reports about a showdown between boxing pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather and two-time 147-pound champion Andre Berto floated around. On Tuesday, it was all made official.
Mayweather is coming off the biggest fight and pay day of his life after coasting to a wide unanimous decision victory over Manny Pacquiao during their May 2nd encounter. Berto, on the other hand, is on a two-fight win streak. His last fight against Josesito Lopez in March ended via second round TKO.
Considering the fact that this could very well be Floyd Mayweather’s swan song, a great majority of boxing fans are not liking the idea of this said match-up. And as expected, more sentiments of disappointment have continued to roll in, mostly through social media.
The fight will take place in Las Vegas, and will be broadcasted through Showtime PPV.
