Pacquiao to run for Senate post next year

Fighting Senator Manny Pacquiao?
It could be a reality as the eight-division world champion has announced his plans for the upcoming 2016 elections.
"Yes, I'm going to run for [a] Senate post this coming 2016 election. But as to which party, that's still to be determined," Pacquiao said.
Although there are questions regarding his decision to go for a national post, veteran boxing analyst Ronnie Nathanielsz says that the People's Champ would make a good senator.
"He has what it takes. He's qualified and he has age on his side," Nathanielsz said.
Regarding on his frequent absences in Congress, Nathanielsz added that he'd rather see a Congressman working with his constituents than see them sit at the House of Representatives doing nothing.

Pacquiao has also addressed this issue, citing that his fights are the main reasons for him missing the office although he never took his constituents for granted.
He also promised to give his full attention should he win as senator.
In an interview with ANC, Pacquiao recognizes the gravity of of Senate post.
''Kaya po ako natagalan magdesisyon is because of that. Kapag magdecide ako - although nag-decide na nga ako - ang inisip ko, kapag pumasok ako kailangan seryoso, walang absent, palaging papasok, dahil buong bansa ang responsibilidad mo,'' he said.
Although there are doubters on his decision, Pacquiao is a probable winner based on the latest surveys.
The boxing champ is 9th in the SWS survey and he's in the 7th to 11th places according to Pulse Asia.
