As an old fighting adage goes, “iron sharpens iron.”
This has been the mindset of Filipino boxers Donnie Nietes and Brian Viloria, who have been training alongside each other for their respective fights on October 17th in the United States.
Nietes will be headlining Pinoy Pride 33: Philippines vs. The World, which is ALA Promotions’ first ever US event. He will be defending his WBO light flyweight title for the eighth consecutive time against Mexico’s Juan “Pinky” Alejo. The card will be held at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Viloria, on the other hand, will be fighting Roman “El Chocolatito” Gonzales for the latter’s WBC and Ring Magazine flyweight titles. The bout will be part of the event headlined by middleweights Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux, which will take place at the Madison Square Garden in New York City.
