Floyd Mayweather named WBC champion emeritus

The World Boxing Council named Floyd Mayweather as its new champion emeritus.
This means that should “Money May” decide to come out of retirement, he will be granted an automatic title shot at the WBC welterweight and light middleweight belts.
According to a report by Boxingscene.com, the annoumcement was made by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman on Monday, during the organization’s 53rd annual convention in Kunming, China.
Junior was also given the Lifetime Achievement Award for winning WBC world titles in five different weight divisions. He last saw action in the ring in September against former world champion Andre Berto, where he won by unanimous decision.
Mayweather retired with an immacualte win-loss slate of 49-0, with 26 victories ending by knockout.
