Just a few months back, Ronda Rousey and Floyd Mayweather were throwing verbal jabs at each other.
She said this, he said that, in a back-and-forth exchange that led many people to go as far as pitting the two fighters against each other. But everything seemed to have changed after this past weekend’s UFC 193 event, when Rousey was knocked out by Holly Holm with one kick to the jaw.
While her old rivals Miehsa Tate and Cyborg Justino decided to kick her while she is down, Mayweather went for the other route.
Instead, he had encouraging words to say, and even extended a helping hand to the former UFC bantamweight champion.
“I want Ronda Rousey to hold her head up high and don't let this discourage you,” Mayweather told FightHype.com. “If you need help as far as with boxing, I'm here to help you. It's all about timing and inches. Her ground game is unbelievable. She'll be okay.”
There is no definite timetable for Rousey’s next fight. She did, however, express her intent to “disappear” for a while and come back at UFC 200, which is being targeted for July 2016.
