Arum: 'Donaire's next fight will be at the Araneta Coliseum'

Nonito Donaire will once again be fighting in his native country in 2016.
Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum has confirmed that “The Filipino Flash’s” first title defense as the newly minted WBO super bantamweight champion will be taking place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City.
“Our plans for him are to have him next fight at the world famous Araneta Coliseum in the Philippines, which 40 years ago, of course hosted the ‘Thrilla in Manila, (the third fight) between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier,” Arum said in an interview with Boxingscene. “It has udnergone major renovation since then, and Nonito will return there to defend his championship.”
Donaire (36-3, with 23 victories by knockout), who will be facing “The Mexican Russian” Evgeny Gradovich (20-1-1, with nine victories by knockout), last fought at the said venue in March 2014, against Brazilian William Prado.
The fight ended with the Filipino boxer winning by second round stoppage.
