"I'm excited because dito sa Pilipinas, the last time nandito ako, grabe yung mga tao." --- Nonito Donaire.
The Filipino Flash is looking forward to put on a show for his hometown fans as world champion.
With his next fight set to take place at the Araneta Coliseum some time in April, WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr. is excited to defend his world title in Philippine soil.
"I'm excited because dito sa Pilipinas, the last time nandito ako, grabe yung mga tao. Grabe yung mga support nila," Donaire said who is still in the country after spending the holidays here with his family.
Donaire (36-3 with23 KOs) is set to go to the ring against former sparring partner Evgeny Gradovich in his first title defense since winning the vacant title from Cesar Juarez in Puerto Rico last year.
"Kaibigan ko yan eh," Donaire said of Gradovich. "Magaling, parang si Juarez din madaming suntok. He's a hell of a fighter. Alam ko na I have to train hard kasi if kulang pagte-training ko we might get into a war, alam ko na disiplinado itong si Gradovich."
The last time Donaire fought at the Big Dome in March 2014, he scored a second-round TKO win over William Prado of Brazil.
