Middleweight world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has placed eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao on his wishlist.
The 25-year old Mexican boxing sensation is still fresh off his victory against former world 160-pound world champion Miguel Cotto, whom he defeated via unanimous decision in November.
He bagged the WBC and Ring Magazine middleweight titles in the process.
Currently, Alvarez’s 2016 calendar is booked, so far. He is slated to take on a still undetermined opponent on May 7th, and then if plans push through, he will be facing undefeated knockout artist Gennady Golovkin around September.
But there is one man he would want to face down the line. In a report by Boxingscene, Canelo says he is eyeing for a possible match-up against Pacquiao.
“He is about to retire, but it would be an honor to have a fight with him,” Alvarez said.
Pacquiao has repeatedly expressed his intent to finally retire from boxing and focus on being a full-time politician. He is slated to face Timothy Bradley in a rubber match on April 9th in Las Vegas.
