Sergey Kovalev holds another knockout victory over old rival Jean Pascal.
After their last fight in March 2015, the two men once again met on Saturday night in Montreal, Canada, where the undefeated Kovalev was defending his WBA, IBF and WBO light heavyweight titles. This time around, however, “Krusher” put on a far more dominating performance.
All throughout the first half of the fight, Kovalev was able to effectively mix up his shots, targeting both the head and body, while using his jab to keep Pascal at bay.
Kovalev kept the same pace and dominated Pascal throughout the fifth and sixth rounds. Coming into the seventh, Roach, who was hesitant at first, decided to let Pascal continue on fighting.
But after eventually seeing the same mistakes happening, Roach decided to put the fight at a halt at the end of the round.
With the victory, Sergey Kovalev improves to a record of 29-0-1, with 26 victories by knockout. Pascal, on the other hand, drops to a win-loss slate of 30-4-1, one no contest, with 17 victories by knockout.
