The team of Raul Garcia has shut down reports about a possible fight against WBO light flyweight champion Donnie Nietes on May 21st.
Boxingscene’s Ronnie Nathanielsz first reported the news, claiming that it was ALA Promotions president and CEO Michael Aldeguer himself who stipulated the said fight, ultimately postponing the original plan of pitting Nietes against mandatory challenger Moises Fuentes.
The same report adds that Aldeguer is currently planning to hold the Nietes-Fuentes fight some time in September, at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. It is the same venue where ALA Promotions held their first United States event last October 17th, in which Nietes was a part of, as well.
Oswaldo Kuchle of Promociones del Pueblo, who promotes Garcia, personally spoke to Boxingscene in a separate interview, where he outwardly denied the reports.
“We read plans for Nietes to face our fighter, Raul Garcia. We vehemently deny this to be true,” Kuchle said. “If necessary, we will reach out to our attorneys if this matter continues.”
As of this posting, ALA Promotions has yet to release a statement regarding the matter.
