Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo has a busy schedule ahead, but keeps his focus on the task at hand, and that's his upcoming title defense against Mexico's Eduardo Montoya
Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo is slated to defend his WBO Youth Featherweight title against Eduardo Montoya in the co-main event of this Saturday’s Pinoy Pride 35 in Cebu, but the young rising star already has a fight booked after his upcoming title defense.
Considered by many as one of the future stars of Filipino boxing, Magsayo will be part of the April 23 fight card in Cebu, headlined by a title bout between Nonito “The Filipino” Flash Donaire and Hungary’s Zsolt Bedak and co-promoted by ALA Boxing and Top Rank Boxing.
For the 20-year old Magsayo, it’s an honor to be part of such a highly-anticipated card, and it’s an honor to be fighting on the same card as one of the best Pinoy boxers in the world.
“Isang malaking karangalan yun para sa akin, kasi si Nonito Donaire, world champion, five-time pa.”
More than that, Magsayo also says that it’s a huge deal that the fight will be taking place in Cebu, a place many believe to be the Boxing Mecca of the Philippines, and the home-base of the ALA Boxing stable.
“Big fight ‘yun eh, magandang laban. Bibigyan natin ng yung mga manonood dun.” Magsayo told ABS-CBN Sports.
While big things are ahead for the young pug, he has not lost focus on the task at hand, and that’s defending his title against his Mexican challenger this Saturday.
“Focus muna ako ngayon. Hindi pa na-eestablish kung sino kakalabanin ko, yung ngayon muna.”
