Mark Magsayo and Jason Pagara are back in training for their April 23 bouts
When loads of people come to watch you work out, then you know that you’ve made it as a prizefighter, or you’re at least on your way.
Such is the case for two of ALA Boxing Promotions’ fastest-rising young stars in Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo and Jason “El Nino” Pagara, who held a public workout in front of a massive Cebuano crowd at the Minglanilla Sports Oval in Minglanilla, Cebu.
Magsayo and Pagara did some plyometrics, calisthenics, and hit the mitts with long-time ALA Boxing trainers Edito and Edmund Villamor and Michael Domingo.
The two young pugs are set to be on the undercard of the upcoming Nonito Donaire-Zsolt Bedak title bout on April 23, also in Cebu.
The 20-year old Magsayo (13-0-0, 10KO) is fresh off a 10-round Unanimous Decision win over Mexico’s Eduardo Montoya for the vacant WBO Youth Featherweight Title less than a month ago at Pinoy Pride 35 in Cebu. Now, he prepares for what could arguably be his toughest challenge to date, as he meets American Chris “The Hitman” Avalos (26-4-0, 19KO).
27-year old Pagara (37-2-0, 23KO) on the other hand, last fought back in October of 2015, scoring a second round knockout of Nicaraguan Santos Benavides at Pinoy Pride 33 in Carson, California. Pagara meets Mexico’s Miguel “Mikol” Zamudio (35-8-1, 21KO)
