" I’ve been in there with fighters tougher than him.” - Chris "The Hitman" Avalos on opponent Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo

Aside from the Nonito Donaire-Zsolt Bedak fight, one other highly-anticipated matchup is that of unbeaten ALA Boxing rising star Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo and former world title contender Chris “The Hitman” Avalos.

The confident 26-year old will be fighting for the WBO International Featherweight title and it’s going to be in front of a partisan Filipino crowd at the Cebu City Sports Complex, something that he says won’t be much of a factor.

“Nah, I’ve been out here, I’ve been to Macau once, I fought Ishimoto, so I’ve been here before,” pertaining to fighting in hostile territory.

The American, who boasts a 26-4 professional record, believes that Magsayo isn’t the biggest Pinoy challenge that he’s faced.

“I have more experience, I’ve been in there with fighters tougher than him.” Avalos told ABS-CBN Sports. “Drian Francisco, who’s a really good boxer, Rolly Lunas, who’s really good, so I have more history on fighting dudes like him.

During the presser face-offs, Avalos and Magsayo were a bit more chippy at each other, but the former says that it wasn’t personal, just something that came with the moment.

“I think it’s just the moment, you know? It seemed a lot with my trainer, who’s also my father. My dad’s a real tough guy. There’s no bad blood, he seems like a good kid. “

“It’s just gonna be a good fight. I’m gonna come out victorious.” The American said.
