"This is a make or break fight for Albert," - ALA President and CEO Michael Aldeguer

The big fights just keep coming for ALA Boxing’s brightest young stars.

After Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo aced his toughest test to date against former world title challenger Chris “The Hitman” Avalos, another unbeaten ALA star is set to take on a high-profile challenge, as reigning WBO Intercontinental Junior Featherweight champion “Prince” Albert Pagara heads back stateside to take on Mexico’s Cesar Juarez.

“Just finalized with Zanfer. It’s on. ‘Prince’ Albert Pagara vs. Cesar Juarez on July 9 in San Francisco,” ALA Sports Promotions International President and CEO Michael Aldeguer said in a press release. “ This is the biggest test of Albert, we knew it would be a dangerous fight and is a risk to his WBO #2 World ranking, but again, just like Magsayo, we need to find out if he has what it takes to be a world champion.”

The 22-year old Pagara (26-0-0, 18 KO) is coming off a 12-round unanimous decision win over Nicaraguan Yesner Talavera last February in Cebu City. He will be fighting in the United States for the second time in his career.

If the name “Cesar Juarez” rings a bell, it’s probably because you’ve heard about his action-packed 12-round loss to a certain Pinoy world champion named Nonito Donaire Jr.

Juarez and Donaire had an intense back-and-fort match that saw Juarez push Donaire to the limit, more than anyone has in Donaire’s last four outings.

The 24-year old Juarez boasts a 17-5 professional record with 13 wins coming via knockout.

“Juarez gave Nonito Donaire one of the toughest fights in his career, so this should be another exciting fight.” Aldeguer said.

Like Avalos was to Magsayo, Juarez could very well be the toughest challenge that Pagara will face in his career.

“This will be a make or break fight for Albert.”

A win over a fighter with the grit, experience, and caliber of Juarez will definitely raise Pager’s stock and make a case for the young Misamis Oriental native as a legitimate world title contender.

The bout between Albert Pagara and Cesar Juarez is scheduled for July 9, 2016 at the San Mateo Events Centre in San Francisco, California.
