Unfortunately, there will be no Rio Olympics for Filipino welterweight pug and SEA Games gold medalist Eumir Felix Marcial.
Sadly, neither of the Filipino representatives at the AIBA World Olympic Qualifiers in Baku, Azerbaijan will be moving on to Rio for the Summer Games.
A day after Pinoy flyweight Ian Clark Bautista was eliminated, welterweight bet and fellow SEA Games gold medalist Eumir Felix Marcial suffered the same fate, losing to Germany's Abbas Baraou via split decision, 29-28, 28-29,28-29, Saturday afternoon.
Marcial, who was the top seed, automatically advanced into the second round of the preliminaries, while Baraou picked up a KO win to advance.
This tournament was supposed to be somewhat a second chance for Marcial, who also failed to secure a spot in the Rio Olympics at the Asia/Oceania Qualifiers last April.
As it stands, Rogen Ladon and Charly Suarez, will be to only Pinoy representatives at the Rio Olympics boxing ring.
Ladon and Suarez both qualified via the said Asia/Oceania Qualifiers.
