THE NEXT KING? "Prince" Albert Pagara looks to show that he's ready to be a king at Pinoy Pride 37: Fists of the Future
Unbeaten in all of his professional conquests so far, ALA Boxing standout “Prince” Albert Pagara has established himself as one of the Philippines’ best young boxers. Saturday night in San Mateo, California however, “Prince” Albert will have the chance to show that he can be king as he takes on his toughest challenge yet, in the form of former world title contender Cesar “Corazon” Juarez in the main event of Pinoy Pride 37: Fists of the Future.
Cocky, confident, brash, however you want to call it, Pagara has taken care of business in his last 26 outings, and 18 of those have ended in brutal knockouts, making the 22-year old one of the most feared Pinoy boxers today.
With a future as bright as his bleach-blonde hair and his neon green trunks, Pagara gets the chance to show that he’s more than ready to compete against the best of the best in the super bantamweight division, the likes of Guillermo Rigondeaux, Carl Frampton, Scott Quigg, and others.
Before anything else though, Prince Albert will need to get past a tough Mexican warrior in Juarez.
Making a name for himself by pushing Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. to the limit in their WBO Super Bantamweight Championship bout last December Juarez returns to the ring seeking redemption after suffering back-to-back losses for the first time in his career.
The 24-year old Mexico City native, who boasts a 17-5 professional record with thirteen knockouts, will as a solid test for anyone in the super bantamweight division.
In the co-main event, Jason “El Nino” Pagara (38-2-0, 23 KO) meets Mexico’s Abraham Alvarez (21-9-0, 10 KO) in a ten-round welterweight contest.
Also looking to move up the rankings, Jason will look to extend his winning streak to twelve straight when tests Alvarez, who’s also looking to build a winning streak of his own.
