Newly-crowned Pinoy IBF World Flyweight king Johnriel "Quardo Alas" Casimero already has his first title defense lined up, and it's going to be against Surrey, United Kingdom's Charlie Edwards this coming September.
Casimero (22-3-0, 14KO) claimed the title back in May after stopping Thailand's Amnat Ruenroeng five rounds into their rematch.
Only seven fights into his professional career, the young Edwards (7-0-0, 3KO) has beaten every challenge put in his way so far. In his most recent bout, Edwards decisioned Luke Wilton to claim the vacant WBC International Silver flyweight title.
While Casimero will definitely have the experience advantage, Edwards will be fightng in front of a partisan home country crowd, as the bout is expected to take place at the O2 Arena in London on the undercard of the highly anticipated GGG-Kell Brook bout on September 10.
