QUEBEC CITY (AP) — Adonis Stevenson stopped Thomas Williams Jr. in the fourth round Friday night to successfully defend his WBC light heavyweight title.

Stevenson improved to 28-1, finishing off Williams (20-2) with a left at 2:54 of the fourth for his 23rd knockout.

The 38-year-old Montreal fighter also floored Williams in the first round, but the American got up at the count of eight.

"He wanted to put on some pressure, so I put some on as well," Stevenson said. "Two men who know how to fight. We gave a good show and that's what people want to see."
