Filipino boxer Johnriel "The Road Warrior" Casimero went into enemy territory at the O2 Arena in London and blasted Great Britain's rising star Charlie Edwards en route to a tenth-round TKO win to retain his IBF Flyweight Championship, Sunday morning Manila time.
The significantly more experienced Casimero dicated the pace for majority of the ten rounds, connecting on the Brit with more power and accuracy, albiet being the smaller fighter between the two.
The Pinoy champ's uppercuts found a home often on Edwards' chin, until finally in the tenth frame, Casimero landed a left hook that put the young Brit on his seat. Edwards would answer the count, but like a shark that sensed blood in the water, Casimero went for the kill with more vicious uppercuts until the referee put an end to the match.
The 26-year old Ormoc, Leyte native improves to 23-3 in his career after succesfully getting past his first title defense as the IBF Flyweight king. The 23-year old Edwards on the other hand suffers his first loss in nine professional bouts.
