Mark Magsayo wins a grueling 12-round war against Ramiro Robles at Pinoy Pride 38
It was a long but successful night for unbeaten ALA Boxing rising star Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo as he went the distance with late replacement Ramiro Robles of Mexico, coming away with a clear-cut unanimous decision win at Pinoy Pride 38.
Magsayo came out strong in the first round, lighting Robles up with a barrage of punches, and then managed to drop the Mexican in the second round with a couple of solid overhand rights, giving many the impression that the fight wouldn't be lasting any longer.
Robles had other plans though, as he stood tough and survived Magsayo's hard shots, eventually getting the Pinoy to tire out midway through the match.
Robles tried to take advantage of Magsayo's conditioning in the sixth round, working the unbeaten Filipino's body, while walking through Magsayo's shots.
Magsayo began to score points again in round seven, landing a couple of stiff body shots that had Robles on his knees.
The Pinoy continued to outscore Robles, who just kept powering through all of Magsayo's shots. In the final moments of the match, Magsayo secured his win by finishing strong, unloading on Robles as the final bell went off.
After 12 long rounds, Magsayo did enough to score a unanimous decision win, (119-107, 118-108, 120-106).
Magsayo holds on to his WBO International Featherweight title while improving to 15-0 in his professional career.
