"CORAZON DE LEON!"
Heart of a Lion.
Jessie Vargas' camp repeatedly yelled this out, as the 27-year old champion was putting in the work at the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas.
In less than a week's time, Vargas faces his biggest opponent to date, eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.
And while the mere idea of taking on one of the world's best fighters can be intimidating to some, Vargas remains confident that Pacquiao's time is done.
"I'm ten years younger. This is my time." the Las Vegas native told ABS-CBN's Dyan Castillejo. "I'm going to hit him on the chin, with my right hand, just for you."
A seven year professional and a two-division world champion, Vargas now works with former kickboxer and Martial Arts Hall of Famer Dewey Cooper, who himself is very confident that his young ward will be able to outwork the former pound-for-pound king.
"We will overhit, overwork, and overwhelm Manny."
"At the end, you will hear 'AND STILL THE WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!'' Cooper added.
Jessie Vargas puts his WBO welterweight title on the line against eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao on Saturday, November 5th (Sunday, November 6th, Manila time) at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
